They say that morning is the mother of optimism. Well, there I was laying flat on the dock at Camden Harbor at 6:30 am. This was day zero for me. Tommorrow this photo journey was going into the next phase. I had finally got up the nerve to go from text book and equipment and internet articles, to registering for a week of learning with Moose Peterson. This shot was only visible to the world for three seconds, with my D3 at 9 fps, I fired away, and had 27 frames to select from. But how to properly use the Digital Darkroom, what I saw with my eye, body and brain of this cool, first light was more than I saw in the lense as it fired away. I needed some mentoring, some guidance, some straight talk, some vison like my own to bring out the Image.
The way for me was this next step with Moose. How I got there can be attributed to another person that holds my esteam, Thom Hogan. He wrote in his blog, that their comes a time when your gear, software, and attitudes get maxed out. Your next step has to be involving yourself and your journey with a focus on learning with a mentor and PRO. So with that advice, and a drive to advance, and the ingrained value that a mature man never stops learning…I was laying on a dock, taking snapshots, hoping to create images…..
The next morning, after the registration and other minutia had passed, a class full of photographers peered up to hear Moose’s lecture. His words resonated with me, the concept was simple but fiercely challenging, Why are you shooting and holding these shots in your hard drive, then he switched gears and advised you that he would Share his ideas and knowledge to help you improve creatively, however that this week was only a continuing part of your journey and it was about you, not him giving you recipes, that the world did not need a bunch of mini-Moose’s……..A New Dawn…..
