We got up this morning at four to drive seven miles and find a location in the Alabama HIlls that was secluded from the raging early winds. There is a wind advisory until 6PM with 25-35 miles and up to 50-60 gusts from Bishop trhu Death Valley. The Alabama Hills are in Lone Pine which is centered midway between those two locations.
I put on the windy and cold weather gear, and stumbled my way in the darkness to the outline of some rock formations that Moose had directed us to keep in out viewfinder. Out goal was to produce dusky shots of landscapes with stars. It was quickly apparent that the stars where hidden in dust in the atmosphere. So I waited until the morining the sun peak from the east and begain taking some stunning landscape Images of this stunning, unique place.
I decided to go mobil, and that when this small cactus caught my eye. As the sun began to rise, I framed this prickly plant with the purplish hills in the background with my 24 PCE.
There is so many fascinating shapes, shadows and light here, that it is a landscape photographers workshop. During my expended stay here, I’m sure that I’ll return for more !
