The first startrail morning at Alabama Hills, had me wondering around in pitch black, looking for a rock formation in pitch black, all I remebered thinkiing was ‘Keep an eye on the north star, and find the Big Dipper’. I plunked down about two football fields from the main group and was wrapped in the bigget big dipper view of my life.
My setup was as raw as could be, I didn’t attach the MC-36 because I had no clue how to use it, but I did have this magnificent new PCE 45mm. Having already in my inventory the sister lens the PCE 24mm, I understood how to use the perspective and shift control features and knew all things were done in manual mode. So I went manual for everything and set my shutter speed for max 30sec, ISO 200, WB cloudy, aperture to 2.8 and clicked and stayed motionless and counted to thirty and waited ….
…. breathing in that wonderful night air of the Alabama Hills and staring at the star lit heavens,,,it could not get any better than this…. it is moments like these that will enrich your life forever and this spot and place and time will endure in my mind as life fulfilled..I could only hope that my Images could capture that mood and moment to share.
