The first day was a cloud free with a the Sierra sky a deep blue. Knowing that the tonal range in black and white for blue sky would be a slate grey I looked for interesting rock formations to play off each other that would translate well in B&W.
The task was easy locating the subject, as the Hills have an unlimited variety of structures, shapes and shadows. The new slant to my Image taking was this was my first set of photos with the Nikon 16mm fisheye. Prior to my trip, I made arrangements to buy the lens knowing that the Hills would have plenty of opportunities for Image taking using the unique features of this sharp crisp lens.
