Boston Balcony

FritzImages Boston Balcony

So with some time on my hands, I decided to work on something different, like this hi-key foreground with shadow background which provides a few layers of depth.

The image started out with a snapshot on the thin shear fabric moving in the breeze in the hotel room. I waited for the wind movement on the fabric so I had some 3 dimensional gesture.  Getting the tonality of the fabric was something new for me, but I had learned about HDR tonality thru a reference blog on 40 free CS5 video tutorials over at John Paul Caponigro’s site. I remembered to revisit the site and used the technique for the fabric foreground.

The background shade colors are compliments of another image I had taken later in the day on my nature walk at the Great Meadows NWR.  The challenge on this Image for me is ‘what is the subject’, and breaking some ‘rules’, stretched my creativity glands a bit more than usual…
