FindMe Stream

Somewhere in Rockport, Me was a short trail following a crisp clear upstream brook.  How I came to find the trail was serendipitous, but one needs to work on their analog reality sometimes. The steep rush of the water broke the quite of the early morning, and the trail began to climb high above the brook.  Time had carved quite a deep riven and to work my way down to the river bed was an underestimate task.  I wondered if this analog excursion would find me losing my footing and looking for my digital phone to 911 my way out.

In any event, I was there,  then sat and observed the ancient untreaded granite and water-flow patterns. The light was just starting to come over my shoulder and started to light my nebulous position.  Tripods be damn, the D3s with the 85mm f/1.4 came out and I framed this location from a few angles.  Light travels an inch every two minutes, and it moves in a forward motion, so you have to work a bit fast here or it’s lost in four minutes or so.

The light bouncing of the fast flowing stream was by subject, and the muted colors on the square front granite block, bouncing back the light really caught my attention.  I also was lucky to have the several small fall leaves framing  the top rim of the rocks as well as those embedded under the water…. This is a special place..and I hope you also have special spots and memories of places like this that you discovered when you least expected it….
