I can’t really say what drew me to this Image. I was staying overnight at the Millennium hotel and directly below the balcony was the partial remnants of Quincy Market Day. With all that clutter in the street and the sidewalks filled with market customers, it’s off to the street to get some travel space. The feel of the city is not all perfect Images of the skyline and wonderful buildings.
If you think about it, if you go into any larger city, you can observe by looking at the lower three levels of the building a current image of the modern city. However, if you set you eyes up higher, the higher floors do not give away that modern feel. The buildings in the older cities have a timeliness above the third floor. That piece of knowledge is quite true (except for cell dishes) and was provided by Vince Versace at one of his workshops…
This Image was taken with a Nikon 24-120G, an excellent all around lens. I saw the trash here in a triangle shape and waited for a while for the subject. I had many a shot of some local talent rummaging thru the boxes, but I was looking for some moment and motion. There was not much sunlight at this time of the morning, and the city’s tall buildings were keeping it at bay for a while. I worked the image in the Digital darkroom to get your eyes onto the subject, desaturated some of the colors, pulled back the yellows out of some boxes, and paid some attention to the streetlight in the lower right.
