RockLand BoatYard

Fritzimages Rockland BoatYard

I scoped out this boatyard away from the tourist public boat launches. It is a working mans boatyard and the energy here starts early.  This morning sunrise even had the local yatchmen stopping in their tracks taking pause to witness the sun moving upwards from the night.  These moments feel timeless and unique.  The complexity of setting up and capturing the Image belay its simple revery.  I hope you can feel the nights coolness falling away for the new mornings warmth, the scent of saltwater traveling on the thermals towards your shore location and the mild distant chatter of the mast shrouds as the boats roll and pitch on the ocean swells.

During this workshop week I was up at 4 each morning, traveling to my predetermined scouted location, hoping to capture some unique Images to enjoy and share, then heading back to the classroom by 9:00. I was lucky as my ‘targets’, filled my day with images of these mini-adventures still tucked in my head…I recalled that Joe Mcnalley once said, ‘that you need to be out in the landscape to be taken by the landscape”… how true…..
