I keep a camera with me when I travel even if its just around town. You never know when the moment hits and you want to be ready. A simple click is sometimes all it takes to grab that moment. It’s also a good way to ‘perfect practice’. You give it the best you have and see if it still tugs at your eyes a few days later in the digital darkroom…..
It is now January, and the leaves have long dropped of the maples, but as I perused thru some of my files from September, I can still smell the sweet air of fall and indian summer warmth from this Image.
One tip to pass along in your planning for foliage Image taking is to be sure to use a polarizer filter and also set your picture control settings to Vivid. I also have seen a positive benefit by opening up these colorful shots using Capture NX2 and not Adobe Camera RAW. Finally the colors and sky are going to make some interesting color casts. Be ready in post to have some fun harking back to how you felt and what you saw when the shutter clicked. I think about Vincent Versace flicker web quote ‘..Photoshop is not a verb. The verb is you.’
