You need to keep your eyes open for those interesting colors and unusual subjects. It is something that I keep in mind when out shooting familiar places. Here the pattern of the thin grey line of ice against the reflected rim light of the setting sun caught my eye.
However to get the shot, I was belly down on the dock and handholding my D3s w/24 f/1.8 a few inches away from the lake surface. Seeing the Image, framing it, making sure that my settings were proper and that the image was level was a challenge, however for me the Image was an interesting graphic which exemplifies the No-Ice winter that we are seeing in this part of NY.
